When you’re looking for pipeline repairs in industrial or commercial settings, CIPP is one of the best technologies to help make repairs without intrusive practices. Repairs are the most common use. It can also be used to provide for preventative maintenance needs. Don’t wait until the pipes require repair. Choose to be proactive and see the difference it makes!

In this guide, we share a little bit more about cured-in-place pipe. We will discuss the benefits of repairs or maintenance. Check it out below!

What Is CIPP?

CIPP stands for cured-in-place pipe. It’s a simple process. A professional will use an access point or utility hole to insert a camera for inspection. The inspection determines where the pipe needs to be repaired and the state of the pipe in general. Once we inspect it, we insert a slim piece of liner into the pipe. That liner is expanded and then cured and sealed to the existing pipe. As it cures, it hardens almost like a brand-new pipe.

Once the pipe liner cures and hardens, we complete a final inspection to make sure everything looks good. The result is a new pipe within the existing pipe. It does not restrict flow or capacity because it is very thin. It will last potentially 50 years or more!

CIPP for Repairs

When you have pipelines that need repair, cured-in-place pipe makes a great solution. These are some common repairs:

  • Cracks
  • Breaks
  • Leaks
  • Aging
  • Pipe rehabilitation

A pipe can typically be repaired as long it has not collapsed and is not extensively corroded. You can use cured-in-place pipe on any existing pipe materials. These details make pipe repair like this a universal solution. There are very few limitations. The cured pipe material will seal and adhere to the existing pipe, giving you a pipeline that seems brand-new.

CIPP for Maintenance

Using cured-in-place pipe for maintenance is very similar to using it for repairs. The process looks the same. The primary difference is that you are aware you have aging pipes that will need attention. Instead of waiting for a crack, break, or leak, you simply make proactive repairs to prevent those things from occurring.

The liner will be inserted, adhered, and cured to reinforce the existing pipeline. Much like with repairs, you get a new pipe without having to go through the challenges of full replacement. This option will last for 50+ years. The idea behind maintenance is to be proactive when you know that your pipe will need repairs in the near future. It saves you from having to rush when suddenly a repair becomes immediately necessary.
